Now I want to talk about one of my favorite fruits(!) today and that of course is the avocado.
This is one truly great food, once admired by the Aztecs and many other cultures for its properties. The reason we love it though is of course for its health benefits, it's great taste and it's ability to help us lose belly fat!
After all, we need to find out which foods are going to help us towards getting sexy abs as it is 80% of your program anyway.
So the reason that the avocado is such a great food to help you with stomach fat is given here in 5 main points:

  3. It has amazing healing properties in general for the skin, the blood, sexual problems, skin disorders and more

I would definitely recommend that if you don't currently eat avocado, to start now and incorporate at least 1 - 2 avocados per week into your eating. Have them in salads, on toast, in pasta dishes or on sandwiches.

It seems that the more we research and analyze current trends the more we come to serious and often deadly conclusions about some of the most common problems plaguing people around the globe including something as simple as belly fat. So if you're finding it hard to motivate yourself into a program which will help you to lose stomach fat, consider also how your choices affect your health both in the short and long term.

In Australia, the largest cause of death is due to heart disease. Unhealthy hearts are our biggest problem.in Australia and the US has a very similar problem. So I established yesterday about how important foods are in reaching your health and fitness goals. Just as a recap though (and to stress the importance of this) it will be approximately 80% food and 20% exercise that gets you to your goal of a flat, sexy stomach.

I don't want to discredit exercise though as that is where your toning happens and is also vital in increasing your health and fitness.

What I want to mention about this though is that we have a big, fat problem.
70% of the US population are overweight or obese. Even more alarming is the rapid decrease in the age of overweight children. We are, as a society, getting fatter.

And if 80% of the problem is coming from foods, what can we do about it?
Well, most people dread the mention of calorie counting and diets so I'm not going to mention them further (although if you're diligent enough, calorie counting can help you lose weight). What I will suggest is that you take 3 vitally important tips away from this reading today:
1. Reduce your "processed food" intake - This is a simple thing really. Just don't buy as much canned and pre-packaged food as you usually would. By replacing these processed foods with more natural, raw foods, you are effectively reducing your exposure to all kinds of additives, sodium being the most common and what you eat to replace the packaged foods is likely to give you other health benefits too!
2. Don't fall for "diet" products - Manufacturers aim to make huge profits so they will do anything to convince you that their "junky" foods are going to help you lose weight and you will probably willingly believe them if it means you can enjoy the products. Don't fall for it. So called "diet" or "lite" products more often than not, do more damage than good to your results.
3. Integrate other foods into your eating - Over time you should aim to try something new each week. Try out "healthy" foods and see what you can do with them. Even if you can't stand the taste of them (grow up), if you want real results, integrate foods you wouldn't usually eat into your regular diet. Some good foods include nuts, seeds (eg. sesame seeds), green vegetables, herbs and legumes.

I hope you got something out of that one. Take away those 3 points and apply them and you'll be flaunting your sexy abs in no time. Remember the 80/20 rule!

Getting More Out Of Workouts

Hey! It's been a few months since my last post and I've just been crazy busy recently. Getting back into some regular posting now though so I hope to seek out all the best info for you on losing belly fat and how to keep fitter for longer.

So on to the topic! How to get more out of your workouts! Well, I was thinking about something that a lot of people ask me and about how important it is for people to better understand the roles that different areas of your life play in your results and...
You need to look at more than just awesome, fun stomach and abs workouts to get really good results. Everyone who is serious about getting 6 pack abs or about getting great results always employs some form of nutritional strategies to help them get there.

The main point here is that it is really important to change some of your eating habits as well as doing some really great workouts. You will most likely treble your results with fat burning and you'll notice how much more quickly you can lose stomach fat.

I'll give you some more details on common eating habits to change tomorrow.
Until then, just remember it is 80% nutrition and 20% workouts that makes the results happen but if you get both right, you will literally get results 3 times faster!

Getting caught up in reps and sets

It's quite common that I come across people who want to know exactly how many reps are going to work the best when it comes to creating lean muscle mass.

The answer I usually give them is that it's best to focus on how your muscles feel than how many reps you do.
I admit that it is true that doing less reps at a higher weight is more "power-based" weight training - it can even be classified as "plyometric" exercise.

When it comes down to it, you want to know - "Is it better to do less weight and more reps or more weight and less reps?"

My answer: Do at least one warm-up set (specific to the exercise you're doing e.g. bench press). Do at least 1 hard set (with a spotter) - This should be hard enough that you can't do more than 10. Do at least one medium set (about 50% of your 1 rep max) - approximately 20 - 30 reps.

When it comes down to it, don't get too caught up in the whole reps and sets fiasco. Just do the right types of exercises and fatigue the muscle as much as possible if you want to build lean muscle mass. This also helps to lose stomach fat and get abs.

6 Pack Abs Misconceptions - What People Think It's About

I speak to people daily about their health and fitness and I'm now 100% certain that everyone has some idea of what it takes to get 6 pack abs or the best method to get a flat stomach... Or at least they think they do.

People very commonly have misconceptions about who can get six pack abs and what it takes to actually make it real. Some of the things I've heard include:

  • I'm too old to get a six pack
  • I don't expect to get flat abs
  • I would like a six pack but I doubt it will happen
  • Doesn't diet soda help me get a flat stomach?
  • I work on my abs all the time but I still can't lose stomach fat
The reason people go on about these things and the same reason that people don't get results with 6 pack abs is just because of their misconceptions. There is no formal teaching ground for the average person to learn about what the best exercise methods are, and most people don't want people telling them what to do anyway.

So what should people know about 6 pack abs if they want to see some results?
Well, first of all there are no "right" or "wrong" ways to do this. There are ways to get results and ways to bypass the results you want. The first step is always learning how to get the results you want.

If you want 6 pack abs or you want to flatten your stomach and look sexy for the beach then you should start out with your nutritional education. You're already eating right? So this is something that you can do instantly to see some results now.
The rules when it comes to nutrition are:
  1. Avoid the deep fried foods
  2. Keep it as fresh as you can - load up with Vitamins and minerals, fresh greens and biodynamic or organic foods. Always think fresh and raw.
  3. Don't go too long in between meals (3 hours max before eating something - apart from when you're sleeping of course)
  4. Don't overeat. This is major. Get control of yourself and eat a portion size that is suitable for you (everyone is different but you should be able to tell when you overeat).
  5. Stay the heck away from the "diet" products - this is one of the biggest misconceptions about 6 pack abs. Taking these as replacements for sugar is ludicrous.
One of the major exercise misconceptions about how to get 6 pack abs is doing sit ups. Sit ups are one of the WORST exercises to help you get 6 pack abs. It's all explained in my eBook.

Whatever you do though, don't fall for all the trends, fads, diets, fat loss pills and ab exercise gadgets. Get some real solid advice and work out a program that will give you results (involving both exercise and nutrition aspects).

New Zealand Snowbording Adventures!

Hey,
I just got back from one of the most beautiful natural wilderness places on Earth.
NZ really is an amazing place, although it is true that it's full of kiwis... :)
Glad to be back in Aus but NZ definitely had its moments.

All in all it was an amazing trip. New Zealand is an incredible place to visit. One thing that shocked me though was the awesome workout that you get doing snowboarding! My back, arms gluts and legs were SORE for 2 days afterwards!
It's a great sport.
